Bourbon Red Beans & Rice

A twist on a classic New Orleans dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 box Zatarain's Red Beans and Rice Mix
  • 1/4 to 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1-2 precooked andouille sausages, cut into small slices
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)

Directions

Prepare the Zatarain's Red Beans and Rice Mix according to the instructions, substituting bourbon for a portion of the water. Also add black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper in the initial boil. Add the andouille sausage slices as the mix simmers about 10 minutes from removing from heat.
